Santa Catalina Panama can sell waves
The raging sea is a lucrative business in other countries. The surf world left a smell of money in Santa Catalina Panama.
Yes we can sell the waves, and why not, even a little mud is attractive to the first world.
The World Surfing Championship that ends today in Santa Catalina Panama, with competitors from 35 to 99 years, showed that despite a rustic farm ville, the important thing is how the waves rise a man on a board for him, however strong nature can be, can tame it, and feel pleasure.
Pleasure is the best salesman in the world and has to pull from the top. The trick is how to package the perfect wave of Santa Catalina in a case and know how to sell it.
Countries like Australia, USA, South Africa and Bali have done it. Not to put the stick so far, Costa Rica as well. To convince ourselves, sometimes you have to hear it from outsiders. So I went to Santa Catalina trying to figure out what moves successful executives to work in advance, accumulate days, take three flights to the Tocumen Airport of Panama, ignore our beloved Panama Canal and get on a bus seven hours to visit a misunderstood paradise.
Robert Reid, an infectious disease pediatrician at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Miami, spit it easy: “This is paradise, what matters to us is the wave and this is world class. It’s special, comes from a deep area of the sea, gets into a reef and breaks with force, it is compared to a wave of Hawaii called Sunset Beach, that’s why we call Santa Catalina Panama the Sunset Beach of the Americas. When it grows you must have the balls to get in. ”
This equation of mass of water is more palatable if this kind of surfer, mature, with a comfortable living status, who can spend good money on their passions, pays well to be attended.
