Bayano Adventures and the Rural Hostel of Lake Bayano are located in the eastern part of the Province of Panama to the shores of Lake Bayano in Chepo, just 80 minutes from Panama City and the Tocumen International Airport.

Lake Bayano

Lake Bayano is one of the largest and most important lakes in Panama, it is of artificial origin and was built in 1976 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. This lake is a reservoir of 350 kilometers with an average depth of 13.6 meters, and a maximum of 60 meters at the base of the gates of the dam.

Its name comes from Bayano River, named in memory of a wild black “Bayano” an important figure in the emancipation of his race during the Spanish colonial period in Panama.

Lake Bayano is rich in biodiversity, along the same we can observe a great variety of resident and migratory birds, besides different species of reptiles and mammals such as howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, titi monkeys, sloths, deer, iguanas, turtles , otters and many more. Its flora is represented by varieties of aquatic plants and trees typical of tropical rain forests.

Across the lake is possible to visit exotic destinations such as:

- La Isla Maje, created with the formation of the reservoir during construction of the dam on the river, an island with an approximate area of 1.433 hectares and forests full of wildlife.

- Las Cuevas del Maje, caves full of amazing rock formations created by the erosive action of underground river that traverses them.

- The Tigris and Maje, beautiful rivers surrounded by nature and breathtaking scenery.

- Several Kuna and Embera Indian villages that still maintain their own customs and traditions inherited from their ancestors.

Rural Hostel of Lake Bayano

Surrounded by a natural environment, Bayano Adventure offers basic facilities to accommodate your family or friends.

It has comfortable rooms and basic facilities like kitchen and communal bathroom with toilet, hot water, communal TV room, common areas for relaxation or recreation, rancho with hammocks, in addition to public restrooms for campers and visitors.

Besides direct access to Lake Bayano, streams, secondary forests with high biodiversity, viewpoints, trails and many other attractions.

Your stay at the Rural Hostel of Lake Bayano will allow you to submerge into this beautiful rural setting. From the homey lodge you can enjoy different activities and expeditions to live days full of adventures and then relax in a hammock, reading a book or simply admire the overwhelming beauty of Lake Bayano.

The Rural Hostel of Lake Bayano and the Adventure Center are the ideal places to relax, do events,  spend your holiday or do different tourism activities throughout the year.

The small rural Hostel offers a room with capacity for 6 people maximum (temporarily).

The check in time is at 1:00 p.m. and checkout time is 12:00 noon.

Rates include breakfast, the facilities previously described, and the public facilities for people who wish to spend the day or go camping.

Your stay also includes the use of sports equipment, an agricultural presentation, a short hike, and 1 hour use of kayaks.

Camping

For groups of more than six people Bayano Adventures has camping areas just outside the Hostel, where as visitors can meet and use the huts, toilets and bathrooms with public showers for campers or day visitors. (Visitors must bring their own tent)

For day tours or camping, the number of visitors is unlimited.

Camping has a cost of $ 10.00 per person per night which includes entry to the adventure center, use of basic facilities, use of parks, recreation, lake access, a short hike path and use of public toilets.

Food

The Rural Hostel of Lake Bayano offers delicious Panamanian traditional dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. Some of the dishes include Lake Bayano tilapia, chicken, rice, vegetables, tortillas, fruits and a variety of foods for all tastes.

Breakfast only is included in the price of accommodation for people staying at the Hostal Rural. Snacks, cookies and beverages are also sold.

Breakfast for day visitors and campers will cost $ 5.00. Lunch and dinner will cost $ 6.00 each. It is advisable to book meals in advance.
