The Concept

Punta Caracol was born out of the idea of creating an Acqua-Lodge in a totally virgin and natural environment. The idea is to offer guests a pure and intimate experience with nature in a place of singular beauty where they can relax in comfort.

Built over the Caribbean Sea, along a mile long coral reefed coast, Punta Caracol is constructed using the traditional methods of the Archipelago: each handsomely crafted cabin is built upon stilts which support a wooden frame over the water and covered by a palm leaf roof – an unforgettable habitat congruent with the native communities of the region.

Natural building materials offered by the rich nature of the region were used- different kinds of native woods and plants, clays, leafs, bamboo, wild cane and others. The result is a warm close-to-nature ambience that takes us back to our origins.

Enjoy one the nine exclusive cabins  of Punta Caracol set over the crystal clear waters of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. From your private terrace you will be able to observe impressive sunsets interrupted only by playful dolphins. 

Feel immersed in the sounds of nature while laying down on a colonial style bed at the second level master bedroom, or just relax with a hot water shower in your private bathroom after taking an inspiring day tour.

Learn how to coexist with the most advanced systems of renewable energy – solar panels that provide electricity to the cabins or the bio-digestor that debugs waste water avoiding any type of pollution of the lodge’s pristine environment.

At Punta Caracol acqua-lodge the ancient crafty construction techniques are combined with the most advanced alternative energy creation systems such as the solar panels, which are present at the restaurant and in all suites, and gas cooling in all refrigerators and freezers, as well as the coupling of a sewage purifying system using state-of-the-art aerobic systems for micro-processing and sewage treatment.

Gastronomy

Punta Caracol‘s restaurant is located upon the blue and turquoise waters of the Caribbean, you can taste a variety of traditional and Mediterranean dishes finely prepared in the resort’s kitchen.

From a silk snapper in virgin olive oil and rock salt with rice and guandu made with coconut milk, to a lobster stew or a seafood paella, the philosophy that inspires our table is founded on three concepts that are intimately linked: fresh cuisine, light cuisine and a healthy cuisine.

The unequaled freshness of our seafood and fish, which are selected and chosen by the resort’s chef from the fishermen and lobster divers that stop at Punta Caracol to sell the day´s catch, guarantees an end product of the best quality for your table.

Likewise, the vegetables and fruits come directly from Punta Caracol‘s organic garden and the High Lands of Chiriqui, known for their organic high cultures in volcanic earth.

The variety of desserts, where you can find passion fruit cream, lemon souffle, our famous tropical fruit skewers and homemade brownies among others, will delight the lovers of good cuisine.

In the wine cellars you can find some of the most known wines that come from the Ribera del Duero and the Rioja, in addition to selected Chilean wine vintages.

And of course, don’t forget to sample some of the special cocktails, whether international or from the Caribbean region, prepared with traditional liquors and brandies and the most exotic tropical fruits.

Punta Caracol Suites

The 5 Punta Caracol Suites consist of two stories that together provide 50 m 2 of interior surface and 25 m 2 in its terraces, in addition to a platform at the water’s surface with stairs to access the green, crystal clear waters surrounding it.

The king size bed is located in the upper room, from where you can enjoy an incredible view of the bay through an ingenious window through the palm roof, while your two individual beds are in the lower room, with a bathroom.

All the Punta Caracol suites are joined to the main dock by independent fingers, except for numbers 3 and 4, which share a finger, due to live corals that got in the way which the resort decided to protect (each anchoring post in Punta Caracol acqua-lodge was placed respecting the natural contour of the coral reefs around it, after a meticulous two-year environmental impact study).

Luna Suite

Punta Caracol‘s three Luna Suites include besides everything mentioned above, side halls that encircle it, bigger front and rear terraces, and they also have a hammock, hanging chair and larger bathing / solarium platform.

Master Suite

Punta Caracol‘s Master Suite is the best architecture work in Punta Caracol acqua-lodge. Its exclusive octagon design confers it attractive, provocative and sheer spaces. It has about 100 m 2 of interior surface, and over 60 m 2 of outer terraces, it has side terraces and another terrace in the upper level, which gives it a spectacular panoramic view.

The Master Suite has a king size bed in the upper room, and four twin (individual) beds in the lower room and also has a hammock and a hanging chair.

Ammenities:

All the Suites have hot water, and 12-volt electric power supplied by the solar panels installed in its thatch roof.

In order to make your stay more comfortable, all the Suites have complements offered to each guest upon arrival at Punta Caracol acqua-lodge, such as mineral water bottles each night, raincoats, umbrellas, flashlights, snorkeling equipment, beach towels, reading lamps and a hygiene kit.

Cancellations received in writing 31 days or more notice, apply 2 nights non-refundable deposit.
Cancellations received in writing 30 days or less notice, full deposit is not refundable.
Cancellations received in writing and under tragic circumstances proven, full deposit saved for possible future reservation.

Dive or snorkel with the colorful fish in our coral reefs or spend some time fishing- wherever you go Bocas will reveal a surprising, relatively unknown marine world.
