Panama will provide the Atlapa convention center for free to attract conferences

To offer the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City at no cost will be the strategy that the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) will use to attract meetings and conventions of over 500 participants.

In addition, the entity will pay the transfer and hosting of three speakers. This represents a saving of $ 100 thousand for the conference organizers.

Ernesto Orillac, adviser to the ATP, said the cost for the use of Atlapa Convention Center in Panama will be assumed by the entity, but explained that rather than an expense this should be viewed as an investment, because a congress in Panama of more than 500 participants generates a impact on the economy of about $ 260,000.

The conference participants will be staying at least three days, eating in restaurants and shopping, which translates into tourist tax received by the ATP, said Orillac.

This proposal will be presented early August and will be marketed in major cities in Latin America and the United States, with a budget of $ 2 million.

Pharmaceutical, medical organizations and technology companies will be the first to whom the ATP will present this offer to conduct their conventions in Panama.
