Panamanian authorities and sectors related to the tourism industry, opt to be included in a tax treaty that Panama and the United States are negotiating, in a clause stating that all U.S. companies that hold meetings and conventions in Panama, can be tax deducted.
That would give a geometric growth for both the hotel industry as well as the country, said Jaime Campuzano, President of the National Tourism Council, adding that the sector supports the initiative for the provision to be adopted soon.
Conferences and conventions are the most highly profitable line of tourism, plus the knowledge they bring to Panama, Campuzano explained.
The President of the National Council of Tourism said that thanks to the international campaign to promote the country, 15 world congresses contracts have been signed, which would bring between one to two thousand people to Panama, in the next two years.
The campaign promotes the use of Atlapa Convention Center in Panama, for free, for the conduct of these conferences.
The National Tourism Council of Panama is integrated by the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Economy and Finance, Public Works, Government and Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the private sector.
