One stop shop for tourists at the Paso Canoas border of Panama and Costa Rica
Besides the absence of a coordinated migration schedule in the posts of Panama and Costa Rica at Paso Canoas, tourists have to use the same row as carriers that move freight between Costa Rica and Panama.

The manager of the Panamanian Tourism Authority (ATP), Salomon Shamah, submitted a project to the National Immigration Service to create one-stop shop to facilitate the registration of tourists in Paso Canoas and Guabito in Bocas del Toro.
Also they seek to integrate the database of the ATP with the security sectors of the state to verify the identity of tourists entering the country. In the first four months of the year, the passage of tourists rose 16% in Paso Canoas.

The Border Crossing at Paso Canoa is the easiest of all the crossings down the Pacific Side. Crossing into Mexico is a close second. The rest are real pains and take up to 3.5 hours if you are driving a vehicle. That is to exit one country and enter the next. Returning to the US is a big waste of time too. Drove right out of Mexico, no stops needed, but took 2.5 hours on the American Side.
