How to get to Santa Catalina?

The only way to reach the town of Santa Catalina in Veraguas Province of Panama is by driving. Visitors options include bus only or a mixture with a taxi portion or to do the drive. Panama Travel Group can arrange car rentals in Panama.

By bus:

From the Albrook Bus Terminal in Panama City, you can either take the direct bus to Sona ($8,50) or take the bus to Santiago and go to Sona from there.

From Sona you can take the bus heading to Santa Catalina, which leaves at 5 am, noon and 4 pm.

By taxi:

From Santiago a taxi should charge approximately $50, from Sona approximately $30.

By car:

Cross over the Bridge of the Americas or Centennial Bridge, heading WEST to Pacific Beaches of Panama and “the interior”.

Head West on the highway, passing:

Landmark Driving time (without stops)

•    Coronado – 1 hr
•    Penonome  – 1 40 hr
•    Aguadulce – 2 hrs
•    Divisa – 2 hr 20 mins
•    Santiago – 2 hr 40 mins

At Santiago you must turn LEFT at the Shell gas station (Avenida Central).

Follow the street for approximately 2 miles and pass the church on the left side. On the second crossroad turn RIGHT and follow this road to the next Shell station (approximately 25 miles).

At the station you turn LEFT in direction to Santa Catalina. After approximately 28 miles, you turn LEFT in El Tigre de los Amarillos, follow the signs to Santa Catalina and Lagartero.

At the present time there are no flights to Santa Catalina or to Santiago in Veraguas.
