Hotel Tierra Verde is located on the tropical Island of Carenero just 5 minutes via   water taxi from the main island of Isla Colon in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago.

Filled with it’s different species of animals and it’s unspoiled beaches, the Island of Carenero has a population of 450 inhabitants and it has no roads, automobiles,or the hustle of the main Island of Colon. Sightseeing

These are some of the more popular spots.

- Playa Bluff: Is situated about 8kms north of the town of Isla Colon, its got a miles of pristine beaches.

- Crawl Cay: Is located 20 minutes from Tierra Verde Hotel, its very colorful and picturesque, located in the southern part of Bastimentos Island surrounded mangroves.

- Hospital Point: Once the medical center for the United Fruit Company, it is now privately owned and serves as a tourist attraction.

- Red Frog beach: See the fascinating frogs which are located in the new particular section of the beach, often seen chirping on the various trails or situated between rocks and leaves , these little creatures make for a terrific photographic experience.

- Zapatilla Cay: An hour long boat ride from Tierra Verde Hotel through the Bastimentos Marine Park takes you to Zapatilla Cay, Panama’s first marine park established in the Bastimentos Marine Park, in conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems, this area includes wetlands, mangroves, coral beaches and more than 200 species of tropical fish.

- Boca del Drago: Situated on the far side of Isla Colon, its got small beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters, a restaurant where fresh fish is served, one of the nicer spots in the main island, you can either ride a bike or take the public transportation to get there.

- Swans Cay (Bird Island): Situated of the northern part of Isla Colon, this island serves as a special refuge for numerous bird species, you will see birds here not seen anywhere in the world.

Scuba Diving

Scuba in Bocas is some of the best and most diverse in all of Central America, you can expect to find different types of corals, hundreds of species of fish,caves,shipwrecks and reef all within 1 hr of Tierra Verde Hotel.

Surf breaks in the area

- Carenero: Carenero Island, where the Hotel Tierra Verde is located is one of the best surf spots in Bocas del Toro, a left hand reef bottom point break waves that breaks for about 100 yards along the edge of the reef, the bigger the swell the better the waves connects a perfect barrel, they say the waves resembles some spots in Fiji, wave is very powerful and its got these amazing barrel section which last several seconds, better hold on to your cojones.

- Punch: A reef bottom right/left break which can get really good, 3 different peaks with different take off zones.

- Dumpers: A reef bottom left hander with a steep drop and tube, rides aren’t as long as Paunch or Carenero but its got an amazing large tube section.

- SilverBack: A right hand big wave reef bottom , which breaks out in the middle of the ocean, about 35 minutes from Hotel Tierra Verde, It has been seen to have waves in the 20 ft face range.

We also offer surf tours to various secret spots through the islands of Bocas Del Toro.

Accommodations

Tierra Verde consist of seven beautiful rooms, with various layouts, to meet your specific needs. Spacious rooms all with a/c, hot water, private tiled bathrooms and semi-orthopedic mattress. The house has a wrap around deck with large french windows which open to view the lush rain forest and the ocean views.

Tierra Verde Hotel now has a two bedroom suite, complete with a walk in closet, bathroom, private living room which includes Direct TV, mini-fridge, and your own private balcony. The Suite encompasses the entire third floor. The hotel has all the modern amenities such as Direct TV and Internet/fax connections.
