Location & Climate

Hotel Boca Brava is located on the Pacific Ocean island of Boca Brava, a five-minute water-taxi ride from the Panamanian coastal village of Boca Chica, just  40km/25 mi from David and 100 km/62 mi from the Costa Rican border, in the Chiriqui Province of Panama.

Chiriqui is best known for it’s coastal beauty, including the Chiriqui National Marine Park and the inland mountain micro-climate retirement gems, Boquete and Volcan Baru. The Panamanian Dry or Summer Season sees very little if any rainfall and runs from mid-November until early May. The Wet or Winter Season runs May through October. Here in Boca Brava, it rains less than many other locations in Panama and 90% of rainfall is at night. Rain falling on the trees is the perfect sound for sleeping! Year round temperature averages show a low of 76F/24C and average high of 85F/29C.

Restaurante

The beautiful Restaurante & Bar Boca Brava sits high above the Gulf of Chiriqui, offering open-air seating with amazing views of the water and other islands below.

Dine on fresh fish and other seafood caught locally or any of the other Panamanian or international favorites from the kitchen. Thirsty? Enjoy one of the tropical fresh fruit “batidos” (milkshakes) or “liquados” (fruit smoothies)  - with or without a shot of dark Panamian rum. And don’t forget to try one of the world-famous BRAVA COLADA’s. A local hang out and favorite nightspot, the Restaurante & Bar Boca Brava serves up ambiance, fun and great food daily.

The restaurant is open daily from 7:30am to 11:00pm.

Activities

Situated at the mouth of the Gulf of Chiriqui National Marine Park, Boca Brava is the perfect destination point for fishing, sea kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, diving and white-sand beach hopping. The Humpback Whales visit yearly August through October and love to put on a show. Boat trips are offered daily to nearby islands, Isla Bolanos and Gamez, as well as others.  Multiple-day boat excursions are available for those interested in visiting Isla Cebaco and Coiba. We are happy to customize a package for you or your group to surf, dive or fish.

The Hotel Boca Brava sits on 35 hectares / 86 acres of island property, complete with two private beaches and 10 km of trails for hiking, bird and monkey watching.  For those who want to explore the Boca Brava island on foot or horseback, there are over 100 different kinds of trees, 12 types of palms, orchids and hundreds of other flowers. Over 200 different bird species, anteaters, porcupines, sloths, iguanas, armadillos and crab eating raccoons make their home nearby.
