Hike the Volcan Baru National Park in Chiriqui
The Baru Volcano is the highest point of the country of Panama, with an altitude of 3,774 meters above sea level (12,381 feet). The view from the peak of the volcano on a sunny day is amazing: both the Pacific and the Atlantic ocean can be seen and part of Eastern Panama.

The area surrounding the Baru Volcano became a park in 1976 and is protected by rangers from Panama’s National Environment Authority in both the Boquete and Volcan side.
If you are an experienced hiker it is possible to climb the volcano by yourself, however we strongly recommend to use a guide.

thanks for the info.
I am wondering if it is safe for one or two people to walk up it alone ..without a group?
Have there been any crimes, attacks, etc. on people?
thanks..
richard
From a security point of view it´s fine to walk the mountain alone. We send a lot of people up there and there have been no problems as far as I know of. Most people we send go at around 11.30pm and aim to arrive for the sunset.
It´s not a good idea to go alone as you may get injured. If you go to Hostel Mamallena in Boquete we put together people who are alone into groups to hopefully avoid this. Check with us and see when theres people that want to go if you like.
