As beautiful as the highlands of Boquete in the Chiriqui Province of Panama are, the ocean is a must see in Panama. Why not take a detour from your mountain vacation and go visit Chiriqui National Marine Park, a 14,740 hectare marine park.
Most of the islands in the park are uninhabited and serve a refuge for howler monkeys, leatherback and hawksbill turtles, tiger-herons, and scores of exotic fish. Unlike Las Lajas and Playa Barqueta‘s black volcanic sand beaches, the Gulf of Chiriqui has white sands. The Gulf is in a privileged location since it the sun is always shining, even when it is raining elsewhere!
Your tour starts in Boquete at 7:00 am in your hotel or in Plaza Los Establos on Main Street. From Boquete, we continue to drive to Pedregal, a quaint fishing village a few minutes outside of David, the capital of the Chiriqui Province of Panama. Our licensed boat captain will then take us on his 27′ Super Panga through the mangrove estuary of Laguna de Chiriqui. You will get a chance to interact with the local fishermen and buy fresh lobster, shrimp or crab that you can cook on your return to Boquete!
Spend the rest of the day as active or as relaxed as you choose. We will take you to a few of our favorite snorkeling spots (snorkeling gear is included), where you will get to see a variety of fish or even turtles in their mating season. Explore the uninhabited Island of Bolanos or Gamez, rest in a hammock, or play on the white sand beaches.
Your tour includes transportation, guide, lunch with fresh fruit, cold drinks and a cooler if you desire to bring additional beverages.
If you think a day on an uninhabited island is not enough, we agree with you and offer an overnighter trip, which included all camping equipment and gear.
