The following ecological tours are conducted by the Gamboa Rainforest Resort.
Aerial Tram:
You will take a journey of 1.2 km in the only aerial tram of Panama through the rainforest, learning and enjoying the wonderful flora and fauna. After about 20 minutes of ascent from the first station you will reach the summit of Cerro Pelado where you walk a small path that will lead you to the Observation Tower, which has 10 levels on a spiral ramp. Throughout the tour you will be accompanied by a guide who will explain about what you observe in your environment so you can learn more about the different species of the area. As you go up you fully observe the Chagres River, part of the Canal of Panama, the Embera Indian Village and the Town of Gamboa surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning scenery.

After you finish the tour, you will visit the ecological exhibits available to Gamboa Resort, a model Embera Indian village, an aquarium, a butterfly house, a snake exhibit and an orchid farm.

Duration: 2-3 hours including the Ecological Exhibition.
Monkey Island:

Take a boat tour through the Panama Canal into secret waterways to find hidden islands that are the favorites of monkeys. Cappuccino monkeys and Howler monkeys can be seen leaping in the trees above. Occasionally, they become curious of visitors and venture down to take a closer look. This tour provides a unique opportunity for viewing wild monkeys in their natural habitat, but as closely as you would in a zoo. Other animals you can spot in this tour include sloths, crocodiles, alligators and turtles that are native to the lake.
The boat ride to and from the island passes through the Panama Canal, giving you the chance to spot huge container ships during their passage across the world.

Birdwatching – Pipeline Road:

Pipeline Road is known worldwide among specialists in birdwatching, because of the variety of species of different sizes, colors and songs can be found in this famous place. The pipeline plan was used in the 2nd World War and never imagined that today would be one of the main sites for this activity. Here you will find not only birds but also insects, mammals and other species of animals living in the woods, both will be trapped under the huge canopy of trees that will making its way into their journey.
Commonly spotted birds include Blue Cotingas, Green Shrike-Vireos and Yellow-billed Tucans. The Tour culminates at an observation tower surrounded by a hummingbird sanctuary. Feel part of this paradise and join the bird lovers in observing these wonderful creatures that delight us with their beauty.

Important: this trail is part of the National Park Soberania, entry is $ 1.00 (Panamanians) and $ 5.00 (foreigners), for this reason it is recommended to carry cash.
Fishing in the Panama Canal:

Those who love fishing and related topics should not hesitate to participate in this tour. Gatun Lake home to species such as peacock bass, tarpon, sergeant, and snook, and many others. Since these fish are so plentiful, there are no limits nor restrictions.
Ideal for families wishing to spend a day together, friends who wish to participate in fishing tournaments or anyone who wants to spend a pleasant moment in the warm waters of Gatun Lake. This tour includes fishing gear, captain, soft drinks, sandwiches and water.
To take this tour you are advised to make reservation at least two days before. Maximum 3 people per boat.
Departure times: starting at 6:45 a.m. you can choose what time you prefer to go fishing. The last fishing tour for 3 hours will be at 1:30 pm
Radio Station:

Departing from the Gamboa Resort Marina to Lake Gatun, do a boat tour on the different islands and islets and channels, where you’ll find the ruins of what was once a radio station used during the Second World War.
This moderately difficult hike of 30 minutes will take you into dense jungle where you will have the opportunity to spot wild animals such as howler monkeys. Follow the footsteps of soldiers passed the remains of historic war bunkers and equipment and hear stories from an expert tour guide about the adventures of training to survive in the jungle.
Duration: 2 hours approximately.
Chagres River Boat Tour:

If you are short on time, an excellent choice of activity is the mini-Chagres river tour. Your own private tour boat will glide smoothly through the water, as you observe the lush surrounding rainforest.
You might get the chance to see one of the huge container ships as they pass through the Canal on their way to far away destinations, or maybe even a sleepy sloth in a tree, or a colorful bird peacefully living in the jungle on either side of you.
Duration: 40 minutes approx.
Nocturnal Safari:

What are the rainforest animals doing at night? Search for them on a night tour in a Gamboa in an open air tour bus to find out. It is possible to see tapirs, capibaras, alligators, rare tropical opossums, and two –toed sloths.
Recommendations: comfortable clothing, repellent and flashlight. Departure times: 7:00 p.m. (everyday)

Chunga Chagres Trail:

Those who love long walks in the morning before beginning the daily activities will be passionate about this trail. Breathing the pure air and delighting in the peace and tranquility that reigns in this place, you will consider the marvelous wonders of nature.
Chunga is ideal to learn and meditate in the morning or late afternoon. First, you will walk for about 30 minutes until reach the shore of the beautiful Chagres River. After, you will take a boat for the 30-minute return, offering you the opportunity to explore and discover the rainforest by land and water.
Duration: 1 hour
Kayaking in the Panama Canal:

If you are from people who love sports, the adrenaline the most of this is your chance of a morning raid by the waters of the Panama Canal. Out of the ordinary and quite original is to conduct kayak and discover what the famous Panama Canal holds you on your journey.
