Decameron Hotels is still interested in Colon

The absence of possessory right documents to ensure that a person owns land, has halted the project of the Royal Decameron hotel company to build a beach resort in the province of Colon in Panama.

Jorge Loaiza, advisor to the presidency of the Royal Decameron hotel chain in Panama, said the project still stands, but gave no further details.

He said that the company Royal Decameron is interested in the coastal area of Colon leading up to the communities of Isla Grande and Portobelo. We continue to seek the land, but when we are negotiating several owners appear and we not want to get into a dispute over land, he said.

As to the amount of investment and the Royal Decameron hotel design, the employer would only say that everything depends on the land eventually acquired.

With respect to operations of the Decameron Hotel in Panama’s Cocle Province, he said the occupation is currently 75%, a high percentage considering that these are low season months, he added.

He said that for the high season, which begins in November, they have scheduled the arrival of 30,000 Canadian tourists, 5,000 more than last year.
