When current owner José Daniel Crespo started his hostel over 10 years ago, he must have realised that this location is ideally positioned for surf tourism, as it is right in front of the surf.
Casa Dos Palmas (formerly known as Punta Brava) is built on an elevated part of Santa Catalina with good access to the waves at “La Punta”. The hostel is located in between the town (20 minutes by foot) and its best beach, Playa El Estero (10 minutes by foot).
True, the hostel desperately needs some tender love and care (and in fact this process has already been set in motion), but the size of the rooms and especially the spectacular views on the pacific ocean make up for that.
Facilities:
Casa Dos Palmas hostel has 2 different types of rooms. The larger rooms that are found in the main house all have air conditioning and a private bathrooms with hot water. Some of them have cable TV. The“cabiñitas”, further down towards the water, are a bit smaller and do not have cable TV, nor hot water. Most rooms can accommodate between 2 and 4 guests.
The hostel is one of the few locations, if not the only one, where WIFI is available (it’s not quick, but it’s only for guests and free of charge).
A restaurant is on site where you can order breakfast, lunch or an evening meal, if you advise the cook in advance or you can go into town for your meals.
Surf boards can be rented for US$10 per day.
Reception is open 24 hours a day and Spanish (hostel & restaurant) and English (restaurant) are spoken.
