Visitors who go to Bocas Del Toro can see dolphins while they go diving. There are specialized tours dedicated to dolphin watching. There are two places where these tours are available, Dolphin bay and Laguna Bocatorito.

Bottlenose dolphins are the most common member of the family of oceanic dolphins. They live in warm waters in seas around the world. They commonly live in groups of 15, although group sizes may vary from solitary dolphins up to groups of hundreds or even a thousand.
Their diet includes mainly small fish, although dolphins diet varies according to where they live. Dolphins use a special technique to gather their food. They stun their prey. Sometimes throw fish out of the water with their fluke. Usually, dolphins fish alone.
These dolphins use sound for communication, including squeaks and whistles (emitted from the blowhole). They use other sounds they produce when they leap out of the water or simply move through it or by moving their tails.
The dolphins’ intelligence is not a myth. There have been numerous investigations of their intelligence through the years. Various kinds of tests like mimicry, use of artificial language and mirror self recognition have been used. Their proven intelligence levels have made it possible for them to interact with human beings in different activities, like sea mine detection and therapy for handicapped people.
